He graduated from Ankara University, Divinity Faculty in 1994. He completed his MA in 1996 and PhD in 2003 in the Philosophy and Religious Sciences Departments at the Social Sciences Institute of the same university. He worked as a teacher at the Ministry of Education between 1994 and 1995. Research assistant in 1995. Starting as a research assistant in 1995 in the Department of Religious Philosophy, he later worked as an assistant professor between 2003 and 2010. He became Associate Professor in April 2010 and Professor in May 2015. In January 2012, he started to work in the Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences, Department of Turkish and Islamic Philosophy at Ankara Yıldırım Beyazıt University. He also worked as the vice-rector at the same University between 2015 and 2020. He has been working as the rector of Ankara Social Sciences University since March 2, 2020.
Also chairing the Writers Union of Turkey, Prof. Dr. Arıcan has many works and articles in the field of Philosophy of Religion.
